I do some kickboxing training a couple of times per week and some light sparring as well. And the only time I actually do any progress is when I'm moving forward and hitting men in the face.

Bad thing about that is I also get hit in the face, so I hit and get hit. But when I try to step back and defend I get beaten up more than when I'm going forward.

Why Defending Costs You More Than Attacking

Moving forward seems like it would take much more energy, much more taxing than stepping back and taking a breath.

It's really not.

Momentum gets killed, flow gets stopped. By moving forward, all problems and worries seem to melt away. You're just doing things and have no time to stress about small stuff.

The most annoying and small business problems hit me when I'm not doing anything or stepping back. As soon as momentum turns against you it just gets worse.
